Grant Programs
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service- Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program provides financial and technical assistance to private landowners interested in restoring degraded habitat on their property.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service- Private Stewardship Program provides grants and other assistance on a competitive basis to individuals and groups engaged in local, private, and voluntary conservation efforts that benefit federally listed, proposed, or candidate species, or other at-risk species.
The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) is a voluntary program for people who want to develop and improve wildlife habitat primarily on private land. Through WHIP USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service provides both technical assistance and up to 75 percent cost-share assistance to establish and improve fish and wildlife habitat.
The Iowa Native Plant Society will consider proposals for "acquisition of land that will significantly contribute to the conservation of Iowa’s native flora" and "research, training and education that will contribute to conservation, appreciation and increased knowledge of Iowa’s native flora".
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation meets these goals by awarding matching grants to projects benefiting conservation education, habitat protection and restoration, and natural resource management.
Appropriate ecological restoration projects in SW WI and NW IL will be selected to receive local ecotype seed. Land managers are invited to submit proposals to the Southwest Chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts.
Funding for prairie research in southeastern Wisconsin and Iowa offered by Prairie Biotic Research, Inc.
